Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Definition

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a type of cardiomyopathy caused by asymmetric hypertrophy (commonly the septal wall) causing an occlusion at the aortic outlet.

  • Genetic: Autosomal dominant mutation of myocyte sarcomeres

Management
  • Avoid dehydration
